Planning is underway!
I’m sitting in my apartment listening to cds in the never ending search for great music for our wedding. I took a break to listen to our President’s address tonight. He talked, among other things of course, about the economy and it reminded me of a conversation I had with my grandmother last year when I asked her about her wedding. She told me that she got married at the end of the depression and that her wedding dress cost all of $11 and the dress was the most expensive part of the wedding. Today the average wedding costs $27,000. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with spending that much on a wedding, its just an interesting comparison.
I have started the search for the perfect dress and have found a few that I like but there is always something about them that is not quite wright for me. I have been very busy getting ready for my thesis show which is in 7 weeks and counting so have not been able to dive into planning quite as much as I would like. However, rest assured that after I have recovered from the hard work I’ll be putting in in the next two months I will be a bride on a mission. On that topic I will probably be recruiting some of my lovely friends to help with a few fun craft projects to get things ready with out breaking the bank. One way you can help now if you feel the need is to suggest songs to have at the wedding. I know that I hear songs and think, “Why didn’t I think of that! That would be perfect for the wedding!” so if you have any suggestions post them as a comment after this post. No promises that they will make it to the wedding but you might get me to listen to songs I have never heard before and that is always a good thing.
That’s all for now. I hope you and yours are all doing well.
